Olaf Spinkel: Technical Director
My name is Olaf and I oversee all the development projects at AweSEM. Predominately this means both the creation and implementation of technical solutions. As well as looking after our client’s technical requirements I also oversee all development of our internal technology, tool-kits and applications that enable us to function efficiently and offer our clients leading-edge solutions.

Born and raised in Germany, I moved to the UK at the tender age of 19 to study Computer Science and Economics at Keele University. Still hungry for knowledge and enjoying student life, I completed a masters degree in Business Administration and Information Technology.
I joined The Funding Corporation in Chester to build a live system as part of my final dissertation. I had the opportunity to design, build and implement a B2B point of sale finance system, used by hundreds of car and motorbike dealers across the UK. It is still in use today almost 9 years later.
After my stint in the finance sector (and before the credit crunch) I moved to London in 2006 to enter the world of digital marketing, joining The Technology Works (sister company of The Search Works, or TSW). As part of the Research and Development team I worked on various projects including the development of “Bid Buddy” – the paid-search management software, which became TD Searchware after Tradedoubler acquired the company in 2008.
Bitten by the digital marketing bug, Ben, Orman, Ralph and myself decided that we had the skills, experience and motivation to create a full service digital agency to cover all aspects of a client’s needs. We optimise sites and build them too. We are AweSEM.

Where I’ve been and what I’ve done
Senior System Developer at Tradedoubler, London
Worked as part of the development team that build the TD Searchware PPC bid management system. Extensive experience with API development for Google Adwords, Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo! Search Marketing and gained fundamental knowledge of PPC campaign management, optimisation, bid strategies, ROI and conversions tracking, data and reporting. Built data warehousing solutions and automated affiliate solutions.
Senior System and Application Developer at The Funding Corporation
Development of a finance B2B point-of-sale system, XML integration with finance companies and affiliates, creation of client-facing loan application systems and implementation of automated loan processing systems.
Previous Clients
Experian, Moneysupermarket, ASDA Finance, Carcraft, Welcome Car Finance, Approved Car Finance, Netcars and integrated hundreds of car dealers into B2B point-of-sale car dealership system.
