State of the Word 2018 | AWESEM

Last week saw one of the final WordCamps of 2018 take place as Wordcamp US began in Nashville. During the event Matt Mullenweg delivered his annual State of the Word speech, which has been hotly anticipated this year after WordPress has had one of the most action-packed years since its debut fifteen years ago.

The full talk can be found on Youtube  and, as you’d expect, the majority of the focus is on Gutenberg and the release of WordPress 5.0, which took place last week. While reflecting on the biggest WordPress stories of 2018, Mullenweg goes on to speak about the future of WordPress and how Gutenberg is set to change the way we create content.

While it’s too early to tell if Gutenberg is a hit or a miss, we’re interested to see how the WordPress community gets on with the new post editor so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us if you’ve had a chance to get to grips with WordPress 5.0.
