Watch Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word ’17

January 3, 2018

First and foremost, welcome to 2018!

This is our first post of the new year so it might seem strange that we’re starting 2018 by looking back at 2017 but we always enjoy watching Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word addresses.

2017’s State of the Word was filled with great insight about the year that has just passed and delves into some of WordPress’ biggest achievements of the last twelve months. A notable point is that WordPress now powers a mind-bending 29% of the web. In other facts and figures, it looks as though the event widget in the WordPress dashboard has achieved its purpose, with WordPress event attendance shooting up by over 30% since its introduction.

Not only did Mullenweg speak about 2017, but also hinted at what we can expect from 2018. Of course Gutenberg was going to get a mention but we also heard updates about project Tide, HackerOne and and do_action project.
